Enjoying My Time in the Animus: A Quantitative Survey on Perceived Realism and Enjoyment of Historical Video Games

This study investigates players’ perceived realism of historical video games. Perceived is understood as a multidimensional concept, going beyond the more traditional use ‘realism’ in game studies, where it often refers to plausibility or accuracy reconstructions. The further examines how relates enjoyment Specifically, this analyses Assassin's Creed, Creed Unity and Odyssey. Through an online survey among 1,317 respondents, found that five-dimensional structure holds for three games differed their perceptions social realism, perceptual pervasiveness, freedom choice enjoyment. Finally, pervasiveness character involvement were identified strong predictors contributes towards validation scale across genres pleads systematic term research.
